At the ceremony of his anointing as king of Asasa things seem to have gone horribly wrong. The Azure, a millennium old priesthood of leaders, become themselves thrown into disarray at the sudden loss of their magical powers and the incapacitated state of the new King.
The tension increases when it is discovered that the immortal and ancient enemy of the people of Asasa has located their whereabouts and is on the way to destroy them.
Without their powers and with the King unconscious, the Azure are forced to rely on the strength of the people and a sacred book. This book reveals, too often in hindsight, prophecies concerning the coming confrontation. So begins the exodus of the whole population to a foretold mountain stronghold.
